Creative Challenge

Faizer was new to scripted content and it took a while to get him used to performing for that form of content.

Outcome

The final delivery were 10 reels plus 10 YouTube version videos that Faizer could use to start his personal brand building journey as a policy expert.

The Process

When we started working with Faizer he was very interested in making content for social media, but he had no clue where to begin. He was very confident with his knowledge on a variety of subject matter within his niche, but he was really struggling to produce the content and wasn’t confident he could do it well.

When he partnered with us he was confident we could deliver a great quality image, but he wasn’t prepared for how hands-on we get in our pre-production!

We worked closely with Faizer to refine his scripts and the story of his ideas to ensure things remain factual as he wanted, but the storytelling would keep the viewer interested.

Pre-production

During the pre-production we first met him in person and had a mini-brainstorm session to figure out what he wanted his personal brand to be and where he was feeling comfortable to start.

While Faizer was interested in talking about a lot of stuff, he wanted to slowly build up to some more serious material. We had a long chat and finalized a few key topics centered around Sri Lankan issues that he was intimately familiar with.

Then, during subsequent phone calls and virtual back-and-forth, Aamina got Faizer to send her all his key ideas within those areas, and we started work refining the script for the story. This process took a little while as it usually does, but eventually we finalized on several scripts that Faizer and we were happy with.

Production

Later, we scheduled a date for the shoot and Yusri started doing a few tests for how and where he will film Faizer in our new studio!

This wasn’t hard as filming single subjects was pretty routine for us now. The only real challenge was how we were going to get a second angle. We didn’t have a second camera for this shoot so we knew we had to film twice; once for each angle.

Behind the scenes of a client Elements video shoot

We also wanted Faizer to change up his clothes every 3 videos so it looked like he filmed over multiple days.

Ironically, we actually did film over 2 days as Faizer had another appointment on the first day and couldn’t stay long!

Anyway, the shoot went swimmingly, and as a little surprise, we also took a bunch of photos for him to use as profile photos, cover photos, whatever.

Post Production

Post production is primarily Yusri’s domain and he just went to town with Resolve working on all the videos.

The videos turned out great, and Yusri tried experimenting with some new styles of B-roll effects he was inspired by from documentaries and such.

Post production goes through rounds where Yusri edits, Aamina gives feedback, Yusri edits and so on until things are just right.

Delivery

The big day for delivery comes by so we invite Faizer to Mount Lavinia Hotel to deliver the files and give him that first taste of watching the video for the first time. He also got thumbnails for all reels and YouTube videos, which is great. See some of them below!

Here’s some of the videos we worked on with Faizer for your viewing pleasure as well!

Here is an example of the reel versions, which include subtitles and modified animations, etc., to fit the cropped vertical format.
